Leeds Bradford Airport passengers were left with their travel plans in disarray on Sunday evening as fire crews stormed the runway. A passenger, newly arrived back in Britain, caught the action on video, capturing a fire engine obstructively parked on the runway, causing their plane to be stuck on the tarmac.
On what was formerly known as Twitter, Bradley Murby commented: "Fire engines turning up to LBA can't even get in the country as stuck on the tarmac." The dramatic scenes unfolded around 3.30pm, coinciding with reports from another user of an evacuation at the same airport. Despite the commotion, Leeds-Bradford Airport's live departure board indicated that flights continued to land and depart.Many flights have experienced hold-ups; notably, a Jet2 flight to Tenerife South scheduled for a 4.30pm take-off faced a significant delay, not departing until 6.50pm, while another bound for Alicante expected to leave at 5.
The connection between these setbacks and the fire service intervention remains uncertain at present. Both Leeds-Bradford Airport and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service have been approached by The Express for comment on this incident, reports the Express. Leeds Bradford stands out as Yorkshire's leading airport, accommodating millions of passengers annually.
