Lamborghini doesn't believe that EV technology is ready to make a supercar yet car auto cars
While the company is now confirming plans for its first EV, the fact that it will be a 2+2 grand tourer is kicking the can of electrification down the road. Despite Lamborghini’s history with four-seaters, supercars are its identity, but the executives don’t believe EV technology is yet ready for them., the brand’s chief technology officer, Rouven Mohr, said that for “the super sports car, we believe that at the moment it is not the right time.
He did concede that in five to six years, the technology may have matured to a point where Lamborghini is ready to commit to electric propulsion, but that for a “user-oriented” car, the time was right for an EV. That suggests that the 2+2 electric grand tourer that Lamborghini produces may be quick, but it won’t be a track star. Instead, like the Urus, it will be more focused on daily driving needs. Since the SUV is the brand’s best-selling vehicle by a long shot, there is every indication that its customers are willing to buy something that isn’t a “super sports car.”
