Police cordon off the Westfield Bondi Junction shopping mall after a stabbling incident in Sydney on April 13, 2024. Australian police on April 13 said they had received reports that “multiple people” were stabbed at a busy shopping centre in Sydney. Multiple people have been stabbed at a shopping centre near Australia’s famous Bondi Beach in Sydney with reports of at least five people having been killed by a knife attacker.
Police have confirmed the attacker was shot dead and acted alone and they believe there is no continuing threat. Two men told local media how they helped a mother and baby who had been stabbed by trying to compress their bleeding.The six-level shopping centre is still in lockdown, with shoppers who had been hiding in stores continuing to evacuate as heavily armed tactical response teams move through the centre.
He said: “She confronted the offender who had moved by this stage to level five of the mall as she continued to walk quickly behind him to catch up with him.Police have confirmed a major incident is underway and issued this statement. “A critical incident has commenced following the shooting of male at Bondi Junction.
“I want to thank New South Wales police, emergency services and first responders and the community for their bravery in the face of this shocking incident.”
