While you might fancy a spot of gardening while the sun is out, put away those pruning shears until you've read this article
Pruning can help stimulate flowering and encourage growth on your favourite plants but sometimes – and particularly at the start of summer – it's best to let your garden be. While it may be tempting to prune that chaotic-looking shrub, you may want to put down the shears and think about what you're doing first.
Experts have shared some of the plants and flowers that gardeners should avoid pruning at all costs this month. These include cherry trees, apricot trees, apple trees and pear trees. If you prune these, it could jeopardise the fruit harvest, leaving your delicious looking trees completely bare. For both of these trees, it's best to wait until they're completely dormant to prune. Either choose the period from November to January period or in late summer, August to October.Flowers that bloom in summer During June, most plants will be in full bloom as summer begins. You should not prune these plants as it could cause irreversible damage.
Pruning certain plants or trees at this time of year could also make them vulnerable to parasites, microbes and other diseases.
