Flyers with images of Israelis who have reportedly been kidnapped by Hamas were pasted to the trees outside a mosque in Clairemont Mesa on Thursday, according to San Diego police. Investigators were looking into whether it was a hate incident and whether any other crimes may have been committed, Lt. Adam Sharki said. The incident was reported to police around 9 a.m.
Similar flyers were found this week in the nearby Carmel Valley and Seaport Village communities, but also as far away as Harvard University's campus near Boston and BBC headquarters in London. “These actions create a sense of fear and concern amongst mosque attendees and the neighboring community,” said Tazheen Nizam, executive director for the center. “Our Muslim brothers and sisters deserve to feel safe and welcome in their places of worship.
