Brits battling swarms in 'madness' described as the worst Flying Ant Day yet
Brits have been swarmed by the annual phenomenon known as Flying Ant Day - with many claiming this year's invasion to be particularly severe.
The event is triggered when a queen ant sets off with a horde of male ants from her colony. Typically happening in July and August, these swarming events can take place on various dates, usually following hot weather that comes after a spell of heavy rain, mirroring yesterday's conditions. Flying Ant Day is a nationwide occurrence that can wreak havoc across the UK.
Meanwhile, Graham Barnfield uploaded a repulsive video showing ants swarming a door frame, lamenting: "Ooh no. It's flying ant day already. Well I just hate the way it's gotten soooo commercial recently. Honestly, they've had pupae in the shops since March etc etc."
