The former Leicester City striker is currently without a club after being released last month
The Nigeria international scored five times but played second fiddle for much of last season as the Foxes gained promotion to the Premier League. He began his career at Manchester City where he enjoyed two seasons before moving to the East Midlands. Despite showing signs of promise at the King Power he only achieved a double-figure goals tally once in seven seasons at the club.
However, at 27 he still has time to revamp his career with reports by Soccernet suggesting a move to Nottingham Forest or Ipswich Town could be a viable option for the forward. The player’s contract expired last month and Steve Cooper ’s side seems to have no intention of offering him a new deal at this point.
Turkish sides Trabzonspor and Galatasaray have also been rumoured to be monitoring the Super Eagles striker’s situation but the player may favour a move to Forest. Iheanacho would link up with his compatriots Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi if a move was to be completed. Despite the interest from Premier League clubs no official negotiations have been reported as of yet.
Despite struggling in recent years the player was even praised by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola in 2021, he said: "Incredible..the quality was there, he was a young player here and I believe in that moment with Gabriel and Sergio we didn't have much space. He is a fantastic person, we had a good relationship.”
