Forget The New MacBook Pro, Apple Can Do Much Better
. Last month, it confirmed that the MacBook Pro is equipped with the older UHS-II standard that runs at 312 MB/s, when the UHS-III standard that offers read/write speeds of up to 624 MB/s.
How about the HDMI port? Rather than the newer HDMI 2.1 standard, the macOS laptops are only equipped with HDMI 2.0 which limits output to 4K at 60 Hz. . Apple has shipped the new MacBook Pro with slower Wi-Fi than the last comparable intel-based MacBook Pros. The latter could pick up 1300 Mbps throughput over 802.11ac 5GHz, compared to the current MacBook throughput of 1200 Mbps on the 802.11ax 5GHz.

These reduced specs may not be as noticeable as the leap forward in the processor architectures, but they are there. They’re not going to have an immediate impact on the experience, but the MacBook Pro in general, and these MacBook Pro laptops in particular, have been promoting a message of no compromise and ultimate computing alongside the sky-high price.
That’s a message which is hard to reconcile with the rest of the specifications of the latest and greatest MacBook Pro. Always look at the magician’s other hand.
