Aston Villa have handed former Celtic kid Aidan Borland his first professional contract after impressing with the high-flying Champions League hopefuls.
The young midfielder was plucked from Parkhead last summer with Celtic only due a development fee of £300,000, although that could reportedly rise to around £1.2 million with performance add-ons. And after just turning 17 last week, Borland was immediately handed his first pro deal with Villa, who are in pole position to gain a Champions League spot next term.Villa Academy boss Mark Harrison said: “We’ve been really pleased with his progress which has seen him become a regular in our Under 21s team at the age of 16.
"He is an intelligent, hard-working, technically efficient midfielder with the ability to score from long range.Borland trained with John McGinn and co. with the Villa first team last month and has won eight caps for Scotland Under 17s.Readers’ comments: You are personally liable for the content of any comments you upload to this website, so please act responsibly.
