Plans to demolish a former Glasgow nightclub to create new student accommodation in Glasgow city centre have been altered to keep the facade of the 19th century building.
Proposals were put forward to Glasgow City Council for a 14-storey, 197-bed Novel Student complex, with the new plans seeing the partial demolition of buildings and retention of the principal facade, reGlasgow reports. The design also includes a new courtyard to the rear of Queen Street and a ground floor retail unit intended for use by Tam Shepherd’s Trick Shop.
Glasgow MSP Paul Sweeney welcomed the decision, tweeting: "Developer CA Ventures proposed to demolish the unlisted 1830s warehouse that housed the Archaos nightclub until it closed in 2007.
