Johnson leads Aggies into SEC play
Quarterback Max Johnson, right, and Texas A&M pulled out a much needed win over then-No. 13 Miami on Saturday.COLLEGE STATION — A year ago this week Texas A&M quarterback Max Johnson was preparing for a road game in the Southeastern Conference — for LSU against Mississippi State.
Now, just as he was a year ago, Johnson is preparing for another game away from his home stadium — this time 6 p.m. Saturday against No. 10 Arkansas in Arlington’s AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Johnson’s father, Brad Johnson, is a former Cowboys quarterback who also led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the franchise’s first Super Bowl title 20 years ago.
Three games into the season the Aggies rank last in the SEC in total offense and last in the league in scoring offense . The Aggies played without five-star freshmen receivers Evan Stewart and Chris Marshall, along with freshmen defensive backs Denver Harris and Smoke Bouie, after Fisher suspended the foursome late in the week for violations of team rules. Fisher said all will be back against Arkansas .
