A Blair County man and former priest is facing more than 30 charges following a months-long child porn investigation, according to reports.
Anthony Petracca Jr., 67, was placed on leave by the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown following allegations of misconduct in 2017. Then, cybertips were reported to the Office of the Attorney General during the summer of 2022. During the investigation, agents used search warrants with multiple tech companies, including Google and Verizon, to trace the origin of where the photos were viewed and/or uploaded. With his cell phone, Petracca uploaded and/or viewed multiple photos through the Verizon cloud, police said, which was connected to both an email and a number that traced back to his home address. “Make no mistake that possession of child pornography is an insidious form of child abuse that exploits and harms the children involved. The defendant is accused of contributing to that exploitation and mistreatment of children,” Attorney General Michelle Henry said to. “These are serious charges and we will do everything in our power to protect children and hold those who take advantage of them accountable for their crimes.
