Four Kings, a novel izakaya-style establishment from chefs Chris Long and Franky Ho will showcase Hong Kong-inspired casual fare when it opens in March
For chef Michael Long, the perfect kickoff to the Year of the Dragon would have meant opening the doors to his much-anticipated Four Kings restaurant in San Francisco’s Chinatown this weekend, the start of the celebratory Lunar New Year.
Eager to introduce their playful yet refined takes on iconic Cantonese dishes to a wider audience following their series of buzzy, sold-out pop-ups last year, they promise it will be worth the wait. The three first met while working at Michelin-starred Mister Jiu’s a block away, as sous chef, chef de cuisine and server, respectively. Rounding out the team is Long’s wife, Lucy Li, 35, an accountant, whom Long credits with keeping the chefs’ flights of fancy grounded in financial reality.
