Jack Towell and three others were sentenced to life for the brutal murder of Owen Fairclough, in an act aimed at silencing him over his knowledge of their drug dealing activities.
Jack Towell , 22, admitted killing Owen Fairclough , 21, with a 'Rambo' knife and was sentenced to life imprisonment along with three other men. Fairclough was lured to a secluded area on June 21 by Towell, who was supposed to pay him back some money. Instead, he was attacked and brutally murdered by Towell, David Oswald, 31, and another individual, before his body was dumped into a stream.
The motive behind the murder was to prevent Fairclough from informing the police about their drug dealing activities. Towell was arrested on June 24, and despite initially denying murder, he changed his plea to guilty during his trial at Derby Crown Court. Oswald and a third man, referred to as Man A, were present at the crime scene, while a fourth man, Man B, was involved in the planning but was not present during the attack
