“Appropriate options for the future location of the fragment, including the option of it being placed in the new Perth Museum, will be made in due course,” said the Scottish Government.
A stone fragment thought to be part of the Stone of Destiny has been assessed as genuine by Historic Environment Scotland .It was gifted to Alex Salmond in 2008, when First Minister, by Professor Sir Neil MacCormick whose father, SNP co-founder John MacCormick, was one of four Scottish students who were involved in the stone’s repatriation to Scotland in 1950 after centuries in England.
A Scottish Government statement, on behalf of the Keepers of the Regalia, said: “This analysis, together with the family connection of the person who gifted the fragment in 2008, indicates that it is beyond any reasonable doubt that the fragment is genuine.” The stone was historically kept in Scone Abbey until it was seized in 1296 by Edward I and taken to England. The UK Government responded by ordering a major search operation for the stone, and only officially returned it to Scotland in 1996, where it remained on display in Edinburgh Castle until it was used during King Charles’ coronation last year.

Researchers create the largest 3D reconstruction of human brain fragmentA cubic millimeter of brain tissue may not sound like much. But considering that tiny square contains 57,000 cells, 230 millimeters of blood vessels, and 150 million synapses, all amounting to 1,400 terabytes of data, Harvard and Google researchers have just accomplished something enormous.
