The survivor spoke about his ordeal
A man, who was viciously beaten and sexually abused by disgraced Celtic Boys Club manager Frank Cairney, has called on Celtic Football Club to 'do the right thing'.
Cairney repeatedly preyed on Andy when he was 15-years-old while playing for the club in the 70s. The survivor now wants people to know the truth about what happened to children at the closely linked Boys Club in a bid to get “closure”.He said: “Celtic FC need to do the right thing now. We’re not storytellers. What we’re saying happened, happened. They’re not spurious stories. You’re not going to invent something like that. It’s just a cover up.
Andy spoke exclusively to Case Against Celtic Boys Club podcast, revealing shocking new details about Cairney’s tirade of abuse against young footballers. Andy, who is in his late 50s, said: “Me and another player changed into our tracksuits and went for a walk around the playing fields. When we came back, about 20 minutes or half an hour later, we went up to the dormitory and the two of us at the same time opened the door to walk in.
“He’d sat with his back to the passenger door with his legs out the front door. He’d just lean back and just put his hand over the seat on to my thigh. “The next minute he came up to me and started screaming before letting off a barrage of punches to my head and upper body. Maybe 10 punches, screaming, bawling, shouting. Automatically you put your hands up to protect yourself. So your towel would be… that was it.
