less than an hour agoThe storm remains disorganized near Cuba.Fred is expected to strengthen some in the days ahead as it arrives in the Gulf of Mexico, where there is the potential for rain and wind impacts this weekend.
The official forecast from the NHC below shows that Fred will move generally west-northwest with a turn more to the northwest over the next few days. When it makes the west-northwest and northward turn remains a bit uncertain as Fred continues to slide westward. In terms of intensity, moderate wind shear and land interaction with Cuba will slow down Fred from strengthening much, if at all, on Saturday.Fred will be over the waters just south of Florida by early Saturday, where some slow reorganization of the system might begin. It is now expected to track west of the lower Florida Keys and through the eastern Gulf of Mexico this weekend.Some rain and wind are likely in Florida this weekend into early next week.
