North Lanarkshire Council is working with public sector partners and community organisations to ensure products are available for anyone who needs them.
An interactive online map directs people to locations where the products are available and a campaign is running to help end the stigma around periods being a taboo topic. Information is also available on the council website here. In addition, seven organisations* offer a range of products and services, including reusable period pants, cups and first period kits for parents to explain period health. They can also provide an ordering and delivery service for people who are unable to visit in person. “We’re all facing rising costs just now, and we want to make sure no-one is worried about buying period products,” said the council’s Equalities Champion, Councillor Ayeshah Khan.
“Our campaign also aims to break down the stigma or talking about periods and female health, making it a more acceptable topic for conversations among friends and family.”
