FREMONT — A two-alarm fire and heavy water damage from a sprinkler system displaced 85 residents of a mixed-use family and supportive-housing apartment building on Monday, authorities said.
When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from a top floor unit of a three-story, 44-unit apartment building. Crews immediately called a second alarm, summoning a total of eight engines, three trucks and two battalion chiefs.
