Latest Nottingham Forest news as Odysseas Vlachodimos transfer details emerge after his move from Benfica
Nottingham Forest could end up paying as much as €10 million to Benfica for goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.
The 29-year-old joined Forest on transfer deadline day, penning a four-year contract with the club as he looks to challenge Matt Turner for the goalkeeper shirt at the City Ground. According to a report from Radar, the financial details of Forest's swoop for the goalkeeper have now been revealed. They say Reds owner Evangelos Marinakis "tried hard" to sign a Greek player during the transfer window, and initially went after Konstantinos Mavropanos before his move to Premier League rivals West Ham United.
Vlachodimos was available to Forest after falling out with Benfica manager Roger Schmidt, so Marinakis made a swoop for the stopper, who has 33 caps for the Greek national team. It was reported on deadline day, September 1, that the final fee Forest agreed was €4.9m , but it is now claimed that the figure could rise to more than double that.The Greek could make his debut for Steve Cooper's team when they host Burnley at the City Ground on Monday . Meanwhile, rival gloveman Turner has left the USA camp early this international break.
