Fresh riots fears after mass stabbing lies as rallies 'planned in at least 15 UK areas' including two in Yorkshire
Police are reportedly on high alert amid plans for a series of far-right rallies across the UK in the wake of the Southport stabbing attack on Monday.
Tensions have already escalated into violence in London, Hartlepool, Manchester, and Aldershot, incited by misinformation about the suspect spread through social media. Community heads are apprehensive about further outbreaks of public disorder following targeted incidents at mosques and residences accommodating asylum seekers.
The violent episode also saw two adults gravely injured and eight other children sustaining stab wounds, with five currently in critical condition. Tensions reached a boiling point on Wednesday night when over 100 demonstrators were detained on Whitehall amid a barrage of bottles and cans thrown at law enforcement. Hartlepool, County Durham, also witnessed outbreaks of violence, with Cleveland Police confirming 12 arrests to date, including an 11 year old boy suspected of torching a police vehicle.
