Fried Chicken Fest is this weekend. Here's what you need to know
is once again highlighting the very best in chicken cooked in oil at high temperatures in downtown Houston.
And it's for a good cause. Founder Vince Milson said proceeds from the event will go toward colon cancer research. "My mom passed away in 2004 of colon cancer," he said."At the time, my friends and I were trying to figure out ways to donate. I went to a big fried chicken festival in New Orleans and was inspired.", it ran once in 2017 at Levy Park and again in 2019 at Peggy Park. Milson said they've raised between $4,000 to $5,000.
If you splurge for the VIP pass , you'll get a goodie bag with 10 food/drink tickets and access to the VIP tented area with seating to eat, drink and mingle. Milson promises the VIP pass will also come with a special surprise. But everybody can enjoy all the treats available from the 24 vendors plus live music, cooking demos and the fried chicken wing eating contest.
