SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio The fight to preserve Horseshoe Lake has taken some blows recently, with Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights councils approving almost $500,000 combined for plans that keep the lake drained.
Shaker Heights council approved $315,000 for the plans and Cleveland Heights council approved $168,000, a 65-35 split between the cities that share the lake. The Northeast Ohio Sewer District says a compromised dam necessitates draining the lake, the most economical solution for stormwater management.
