People all across the country will be voting for their local representatives next month
In England alone, more than 2,500 council seats will be up for grabs across 107 authorities. It will mark the final indicator for what Britain's main political parties can expect in the general election, which is expected to take place later this year.
Meanwhile, there will also be a by-election for Blackpool South on the same day. Most of the seats being put up for election this year were last held in 2021 - initially, these were supposed to take place in 2020 but were postponed due to the Covid pandemic.Here are all the places holding a local council and mayoral election for England and Wales on May 2 of this year. It's important to note that Scotland and Northern Ireland will not be hosting local elections.
