Upgrades planned across Nottinghamshire schools includes new boilers and replacing ceilings
Nottinghamshire schools hit hard by recent flooding are among those receiving a collective £8.6 million worth of upgrades across the country. Replacing ceilings, installing new boilers and improving drainage systems are among the improvements planned at schools across Nottinghamshire for the rest of this financial year, ending in May 2025.
Nottinghamshire County Council says a dozen schools will be getting a range of improvements, with the authority saying lowering energy bills by making schools more energy efficient is a priority. The council says it has delivered various improvements to 67 school buildings since 2021 and that those hit by flooding are among those getting the latest upgrades.
Councillor Keith Girling, cabinet member for economic development and asset management at the county council, said: "Investing in our schools' infrastructure is vital. Young people deserve to study and learn in buildings which are fit-for-purpose."We know that some schools were impacted by flooding earlier this year, so those schools most in need of improvements to their drainage systems are being prioritised. We have also secured some government money to help towards this work.
Schools hit hard by flooding recently including the Walkeringham Primary in Bassetlaw, which is set to receive £160,000 worth of works to improve its drainage system. Below are all the works planned at 12 Nottinghamshire schools.
