Erik ten Hag has employed a 4-2-3-1 formation for the vast majority of his matches in charge of Manchester United. So the signings of Gakpo and Ramos would give him a wealth of attacking options and playing both players could mean stars including Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho may miss out on a place in the starting XI.
Ramos has experience as an attacking midfielder, however, centre forward is where he’s played all season for his country and his club, Benfica. Gakpo on the other hand is far more flexible, having played as a centre forward in three of the Netherlands’ five World Cup matches, and attacking midfield in the other two.
