Garoppolo shared a smile with a former Patriots teammate after his poor second half contributed to the 49ers’ loss to Denver.
Jimmy Garoppolo is a pretty upbeat guy., in no small part thanks to several second-half miscues from Garoppolo, the once-again starting quarterback didn’t let the loss keep him from sharing a postgame smile on the field with Denver offensive lineman Cam Fleming, a former Patriots teammate.
How could he imagine the smile wouldn’t be seen by his detractors in the Bay Area? This is the place that practically invented the quarterback controversy. Now that he’s taken over for the season from the injured Trey Lance, the “who’s better” chatter has died down. But we’re not above the time-honored classic of over-analyzing body language.
Garoppolo also chuckled during his postgame podium session when asked how his right shoulder felt after his first full game since an offseason operation.the video of Garoppolo’s postgame handshake on Twitter, saying the quarterback was “a little too smiley immediately after a pretty abysmal performance.”
