It turns out that old investment bankers don’t fade away these days, instead they just join the latest Wall Street craze
: trying to get rich by running a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, in finance argot.the former president and chief operating officer of Goldman Sachs. Cohn, of course, had a 14-month stint as’s first director of the National Economic Council and as an adviser to the president on economic policy.
When Cohn left the White House, he thought he might become the CEO of a big media company, although that kind of jobs doesn’t just fall in your lap, or that he might start a private-equity firm, or that he might roll up a bunch of underperforming companies and fix them. Instead he just might have a chance to do a little of all three. Cohn has joined the SPAC bonanza. “So Gary Cohn is doing a SPAC,”the managing principal of TBJ Investments, tweeted to his 3,438 followers.
Robbins and Cohn are both board cochairmen and directors. Oh man, are they qualified.
