.gtconway3d predicts Trump won't cooperate with Jan. 6 subpoena

On the heels of the unanimous vote in favor of a subpoena, Conway joined a CNN panel to react to the Jan. 6 panel's presentation. After he argued that Trump has an"enormous amount of legal exposure," Conway made a prediction for how the former president will react to the subpoena, citing what he just saw from the committee.

"He won’t do it, and they highlighted the fact he won’t do it by noting the fact that so many around him took the Fifth Amendment or otherwise avoided testimony, and that’s what he’s going to do here obviously, but it really puts it to him. And why can’t he answer? Why can’t he answer directly? Why can’t he answer under oath? And he won’t, and that’s the gauntlet they threw," Conway said.

“We need to hear from him,” Chairman Bennie Thompson said of Trump while introducing the vote. “It is our obligation to seek Donald Trump’s testimony."

National Archives rejects Trump claim on former presidents' recordsNational Archives rejects Trump claim on former presidents' recordsThe National Archives, the federal agency responsible for preserving U.S. government records, on Tuesday rejected former President Donald Trump's claim that his predecessors had retained 'millions' of White House documents. Trump faces a criminal investigation by the U.S. Justice Department into whether he illegally retained documents from the White House when he left office in January 2021 and whether he tried to obstruct the probe. At a rally in Arizona on Sunday, Trump accused three former presidents - Republicans George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush and Democrat Bill Clinton - of taking millions of documents and storing them in unsecure locations including a Chinese restaurant, a bowling alley and a car dealership.
