Ghostface gave Drew Barrymore a call in anticipation of the cast of Scream appearing on her talk show this week.
Ghostface gives Drew Barrymore a phone call to promote a reunion of the Scream cast in anticipation of Scream . Scream is the fifth film in the Scream franchise, starting with the original in 1996 that featured Barrymore in one of the most effective opening scenes in horror movie history. All four films were directed by horror icon Wes Craven, but due to his death in 2015, the new film will be helmed by Ready Or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
Scream follows the crimes of Ghostface, a masked killer who uses threatening phone calls and a voice changer to scare his victims before killing them with a knife. Scream will reunite cast members Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette, who all appeared in the previous four films. They will be joined by new cast members Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, and Jack Quaid.
The original Scream was a landmark in the slasher genre, which was considered dead at the time of its release, with Scream showing that horror could be funny and self-aware as well as terrifying, with Barrymore's opening scene proving that thesis.
