The three giant pandas that have called Washington, D.C., home will soon be sent back to China, the Smithsonian's National Zoo announced earlier in August.

Tian Tian, pictured here, will be leaving Washington, D.C., this December after living at the National Zoo for 23 years., located in the province of Sichuan. In January 2011, the National Zoo and the China Research and Conservation Center for the Giant Panda signed the"Giant Panda Cooperative Research and Breeding Agreement," said the zoo's website.
