Glasgow Central, which is Scotland's busiest train station, has seen crime rise by nearly a third since 2022, according to the latest statistics released by the British Transport Police.
Shocking statistics have revealed Glasgow Central is the most violent train station in Scotland, as crime has risen 31 per cent in the last year.
Violent incidents which make up around a third of crimes committed in the station rose from 68 to 78 with monthly data showing a steady rise to the end of the year. Glasgow Queen Street, the third largest station saw crime nearly double with a 40 per cent increase from 56 the previous year to 86. Violent crime also increased from 23 to 30 incidents - a rise of 30 per cent. On-train crime also increased by around 30 per cent to 60 at Central while Queen street seen a 11 per cent rise to 20. However, Edinburgh Waverley had the most instances with 62 and Edinburgh Haymarket beat out Queen Street to win the dubious prize of having the third most crimes committed on trains with 22 - despite seeing only an eighth of passengers.
