Catherine Winn and Neil Plenderleith rushed one-year-old Sonny to hospital after noticing a rash that had appeared overnight. Tragically, the family said goodbye to him two days later.

A Glasgow family have been left devastated following the passing of their one-year-old son just days after they took him to hospital with a temperature.

They rushed back to A&E with their 14-month-old on March 20 and Sonny was taken into the paediatric intensive care unit at the Glasgow Children's Hospital. "His temperature was going up and down so we went to the GP. Sonny was checked all over for rashes and they couldn't find anything. "They started to feel a bit happier with him again at around 10pm. Doctors were staying late to see if our wee baby was going to be ok.

"We hope that through our loss that, on the flip side, someone else's world will be turned around in a positive way. And that is a comfort.
