Jill McLaren was in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court where she admitted engaging in sexual activity with the man while working at a secure unit in Stobhill Hospital.
A nurse had a sexual relationship and exchanged love letters with a patient she was supposed to help care for in a Glasgow secure unit.
The patient was sent to the State Hospital at Carstairs in 2013 for a spate of knife crimes, and it is believed he was later transferred to Stobhill. McLaren, from Greenock, and the man struck up a conversation about their shared love for fitness and went on to tell him that she had taken a shift on his ward so that she could "see him".Fiscal Lauren Donnelly said: "She went to get chocolates and he followed her. They began kissing in the cupboard.
The court heard McLaren also bought a birthday card for the patient. They later went on an outing for him to apparently buy Christmas gifts. But they instead ended up at her house, where further sexual contact occurred. But she later sent another card to him. The message inside read: "I miss you like crazy. I'm sorry I can't be the one to make you happy. I'm sorry about anything hurtful that I have said, please don't think I didn't love you, I'm pining after you and it hurts so much."
