Cineworld has announced that the Forge shopping centre venue is to shut as part of the companies restructuring plans. The news comes as it was previously reported that as many as 25 branches could be under threat.
Glasgow's Parkhead Cineworld is to close as the struggling entertainment giant prepares to axe hundreds of roles across the UK.
The company will reportedly axe more than a hundred roles, however, the the number of job losses remains uncertain with the company entering into a consultation process which will see some workers deployed to other locations. Cineworld's restructuring plan will now go before the court, and if approved, the process is set to go into effect in September. Part of the plans include negotiating reduced rental costs with landlords in the UK.
