Glickenhaus confirms two-car Le Mans entry.
As before, the SCG007 will run in the Hypercar class, but unlike last year, it will face more than just Toyota and Alpine. Ferrari has a new LMH car for its return to top-flight prototype racing, while Cadillac and Porsche will also run LMDh cars in the Hypercar class. Glickenhaus raced against the new Peugeot 9X8 at Monza last year, and now they'll compete for the full season. Competition will be stiff, with Glickenhaus the privateer underdog to big OEMs.
While the No. 708 car will be run by the SCG team itself, the No. 709 will run at Le Mans in partnership with Danbury, Connecticut-based HK Motors, Glickenhaus' primary dealer for its road cars. Last year, the No. 708 and No. 709 ran the first four rounds of the WEC season, of course including Le Mans.
With Alpine skipping the 2023 season in preparation for its LMDh entry in 2024, the SCG007 will be the only non-hybrid running in WEC Hypercar. It will be very interesting to see how it's balanced against the rest of the class. In any event, we're very happy to see the American privateer compete once again in the big leagues.
