For two decades of its 39-year history, the association has been based in Pleasanton in California’s Bay Area.
Goodguys was started by founder Gary Meadors in 1983 as a one-day get-together for Bay Area hot rodders. It now has 70,000 members.
Meadors died in 2015. His son, Marc, is now the company’s majority owner and CEO. He moved to Hudson Oaks, west of Fort Worth, in June 2021. Seven of the association’s 24 full-time employees are working at the new Texas headquarters, including four new hires in finance and customer service. The company said it plans to continue hiring locally as positions become available in marketing, event operations and publishing/media.
