.Google approves Truth Social app in Play Store after months of delays
The app was delayed for months due to insufficient content moderation. Truth Social has worked on updating its policies and will now determine when it wants to release the app on the platform."Apps may be distributed on Google Play provided they comply with our developer guidelines, including the requirement to effectively moderate user-generated content and remove objectionable posts such as those that incite violence," a Google spokesperson told Axios.
While approval was delayed, Trump Media and Technology Group attempted to release its Android app to consumers via sideloading, allowing users to download it directly from their website rather than through a marketplace. It also uploaded the app to the Samsung Galaxy Store. The upload of the Android app arises as the company struggles with various financial and legal issues.
The company has also stopped paying RightForge, a conservative server hosting service, leading to a potential lawsuit if the company fails to pay for its servers.
