So many projects are killed by Google that an independent entity has created a website called Killed by Google. Google Hangouts, Chrome Apps, and Google Duo were among the apps that were killed off in 2022. So far, here are the five Google projects that are on the chopping block for 2023.
Amid the industry rush towards cloud gaming, Google launched Stadia in November 2019. Google appeared to be all-in on gaming, with Sundar Pichai saying at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco that the company was “indebted to games.”
Stadia will now be completely shut down on Jan. 18. Stadia hardware purchases will be refunded entirely if you purchased them. The refunds are expected to be completed by mid-January, according to Google.OnHub routers will still work after that date, but customers won't be able to manage their routers with the Google Home app. Also disabled will be other skills enabled via Google Assistant that allowed customers to manage or control their routers.
