All signs point to a GOP advantage in the 2022 midterms, but new private polling found that the Republican edge may be growing larger than expected
Polling commissioned by GOP groups on four newly redistricted, Democratic-leaning House seats — including Rep. Henry Cuellar's district — found President Joe Biden’s approval ratings underwater in areas he won by an average of 7 points in 2020. | Manuel Balce Ceneta.
Significantly, the districts are similar in their longtime blue lean. Three are currently represented by House Democrats, none of whom are on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s list of most vulnerable members: Rep. Kurt Schrader , who represents a large chunk of central Oregon; Rep. Henry Cuellar represents a heavily Latino strip of south Texas; and Rep. Frank Mrvan Jr. is in the northern Indiana seat, which includes metropolitan Chicago suburbs.
released earlier this week found that 51 percent of registered voters backed a generic Republican congressional candidate, if the elections were held today, the highest number ever for the GOP in the 40-year history of this question being posed.according to FiveThirtyEight
