Three wildfires have broken out across Northern Ireland on Wednesday afternoon as temperatures soar
was closed on Wednesday, June 14, and the public were asked to avoid the area.Newry, Mourne and Down had said: "Slievenaman Road, Newcastle is closed as NIFRS are currently dealing with a large gorse fire.The fire was eventually put out at around 4pm on Wednesday afternoon.
However, separate mountain fires have been reported near Cushendall in Co Antrim Candorleaghan Road, Clogher in Co Tyrone. A NIFRS statement said: "We are currently in attendance at two separate gorse fires on Ballyemon Road, Glenariff and Corleaghan Road, Clogher. Please avoid these areas while we deal with these incidents."
The PSNI also said: "The Ballyeamon Road in Cushendall is currently closed to traffic due to a fire in the area. Diversions are in place at the Middlepark Road and Glenariff junctions.
