Department of Transport in huge u-turn over controversial proposals
The government is set to scrap hugely controversial plans to close train station ticket offices around the country.
In the Liverpool City Region, around 75 jobs were put at risk with the proposed closure of 18 ticket offices. Major concerns were raised about the potential impact on vulnerable groups such as those with disabilities.READ MORE: Trick or treating girl was dragged under car in shooting incident "We have engaged with accessibility groups throughout this process and listened carefully to passengers as well as my colleagues in Parliament. The proposals that have resulted from this process do not meet the high thresholds set by Ministers, and so the Government has asked train operators to withdraw their proposals
