A grandmother, who was left living in chronic pain after being diagnosed with cancer four times, hopes her grandchildren will grow up in a world free from fear of the disease.
Once she raised her concerns, she was told by doctors after conducting tests that the lump was in fact breast cancer. Carol underwent a lumpectomy, followed by a course of radiotherapy. As a result, Carol underwent surgery to have half of her bowel removed, as well as a course of chemotherapy. Towards the end of this treatment, history repeated itself and she received more bad news - her melanoma was back.
"Cancer can affect anyone’s life, at any time, so we really have no choice other than to unite against it and help support the scientists to keep making new discoveries. I want my grandchildren to grow up in a world free from the fear of cancer.
