The venue has been recognised as a 'top-tier pub serving excellent beer, cider and perry, run by welcoming, hardworking staff'
A community pub in the heart of Stockport has been named as the best pub in the North West by a prestigious group of aficionados.
The Greater Manchester Pub of the Year has been named as the Northumberland Arms in Marple Bridge. Saved from permanent closure in 2017, the pub is run by the local community with residents able to buy shares in the venue to help keep it going. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News at the time, pub manager Phil Jarvis said: "It's just amazing, I never thought this would happen. It's a community owned pub with a brilliant atmosphere. I've trained the team to be very welcoming and they have a good knowledge of the beers, many of which are from local breweries."
Other regional winners in CAMRA’s Pub of the Year competition include Turks Head in St Helens, which represents Merseyside and Cheshire. The Tudor-style pub, which dates back to the 1870s, previously won the title in 2023 and was praised for its range of 14 different cask beers and 15 ciders, as well as its welcoming atmosphere and expensive beer garden with an outside bar and wood-fired pizza oven.
