Former Grey's Anatomy star Jesse Williams says he would consider returning to play Jackson Avery again. Few television shows have been on for as long as ABC's Grey's Anatomy. The long-running medical drama, now in the midst of its 18th season, courted rumors that it would be coming to an end soon just last year. Since then, though, ABC has renewed Grey's Anatomy for season 19, meaning audiences will get to stick around Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital for a while longer.
Throughout its impressive run, Grey's Anatomy has endured a startling number of cast changes. The current season 18 cast only includes 3 actors from the very start of the show ; many more have spent solid runs on Grey's Anatomy before leaving. Among the most recent doctors to depart Grey Sloan is Williams' Jackson Avery, onetime chief of plastic surgery and one half of the beloved couple"Japril.
Grey's Anatomy has shown that even dead characters can make onscreen reprisals, so there's no reason why Jackson wouldn't be able to revisit his old friends at Grey Sloan. Jackson is one of the few exiting Grey's Anatomy characters to get a truly happy and satisfying ending, as he was reunited with his true love April Kepner in the Boston move.
With Grey's Anatomy sticking around for at least one more season, there's still plenty of time for Williams to pop back in. He could join those like Patrick Dempsey, Chyler Leigh, and Kate Walsh in putting in a memorable reappearance on the show. Based on how many fans were sad to see him go, it's probably safe to say many would welcome him back with open arms. For now, Williams' Dr.
