The U.S. is warning people not to eat meat possibly containing plastic that was shipped to Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The raw ground beef packages may be contaminated with clear, thin pliable plastic, the release states. The recalled products were packaged in Chicago, Illinois at Amity Packing Company Inc. on Jan. 6, according to the release. They were then shipped to retail locations in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
According to the release, the packages being recalled are 1 pound vacuum-packed packages labelled"Pre 95% LEAN/5% FAT GROUND BEEF” with lot code “0060,” case code “11402” and a use/freeze by date of “01/31/2020." They also have a"EST. 6916" printed on the right front side of the package.
