Dalbeattie man Guy Bryson raised £1,125 for Macmillan Cancer Support – by cycling one of the Tour de France stages.
The super-fit 52-year-old also took part in several long-distance cycle events across Scotland and Finland ahead of his Tour challenge as part of his training, raising funds along the way. L’Etape Tour De France allows amateur riders to take part in stage 14 of the Tour De France on the same closed road circuit that the professionals ride two days beforehand.
The challenge itself involved cycling from Annemasse to Morzine, covering 91 miles of road with a lung-bursting 13,500 feet of elevation in one day. Guy took part with another 16,000 cyclists for company and completed the route in 10 hours and 20 minutes.
