Gwyneth Paltrow, her husband and some friends dined out in Palo Alto this week.
. The actress and Goop founder stopped by Ethel's Fancy for dinner while in town for an event at Stanford University, owner Scott Nishiyama told the Chronicle.
“Truly excellent dinner at @ethelsfancy,” Paltrow shared on her Instagram story with a photo of the restaurant’s caviar-topped tuna tartare. Paltrow and her husband, Brad Falchuk, dined with some friends at the seasonal California restaurant Monday evening before catching a flight back to Los Angeles, Nishiyama told the Chronicle. The group's special menu included tuna tartare, soft-shell crab, asparagus in dashi broth and yuzu kosho-glazed Alaskan halibut.
Ethel’s Fancy opened last fall, the first restaurant from former fine dining chef Nishiyama. While Nishiyama previously worked in Michelin-starred restaurants like thein Yountville, Ethel’s Fancy is a decidedly more casual affair. The atmosphere is an “epic dinner party of sharing plates, mighty drinks, and rocking tunes,” reads its website.
