John Rankin wants points as he looks ahead to a home clash with Dunfermline Athletic
John Rankin says his Hamilton Accies players have shown him they would ‘run through a brick wall for each other’ – but says they can’t let their heads drop and must start picking up results.
“I don’t think you can ever question the character and commitment of the players. I think the group we have, they would run through a brick wall for one another,” said Rankin. Rankin added: “We have been creating chances and ultimately in the first two games we’ve not taken them. “I keep going back to it: you come to a place like Ayr and you score two goals, but to not get anything out of the game, I’m bitterly disappointed.“What we can’t do is let our heads go down, because we came off the back of a defeat here.
“There are injuries, but there’s no point in burying our heads in the sand, we need to get on with it.Meanwhile, Rankin says striker Oli Shaw getting off the mark in the league, and scoring his second of the season, at Ayr indicates that the former Hibs and Barnsley striker has his hunger back.
