Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been in touch with King Charles III's office about the monarch's upcoming coronation, their spokesperson confirmed Sunday, marking the strongest suggestion to date that they have been invited to attend.
A representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in a statement to The Sunday Times that Harry had"recently received email correspondence from His Majesty's office regarding the coronation." The couple, who stepped down from senior royal duties in early 2020 due to friction with the family, declined to say if they planned to attend.
Harry argued that the ball was"in their court," referring to his father and brother, Prince William, when asked while promoting Spare in a January interview with ITV's Tom Bradby if he would consider attending the coronation. The royals have yet to comment on Harry and Meghan's most recent litany of allegations, last responding to accusations of unconscious racial bias by the couple after their bombshell interview with Oprah in March 2021.
